Crazy For Books

I'm a film/television producer and book scout. I'm always looking for book material to work with. I love film and television as well as reading. The best job in the world is being able to marry the two.

STORM REDEMPTION (Storm Damaged #3) by Magda Alexander

Storm Redemption (Storm Damages Book 3) - Magda Alexander

4.5 DESPERATE STARS

This story picks up the morning after the end of Storm Ravaged . Gabriel and Elizabeth still can't get on the same page. He believes he has the right to do whatever it takes to protect her and their son, Andrew. She believes they have nothing if he can't talk to her, be honest with her and take her needs and wants into consideration.

At the same time, Gabriel's brother Edward is back and there are a lot of emotions there that are unresolved. He's lost five years with the person he was closest to growing up with a sadistic mother who hated him and loved his brother. Gabriel has a lot of anger and Edward talks him into talking to someone. But true to form, he doesn't talk to and discuss what's going on with him with Elizabeth, which brings more strife in their marriage.

Elizabeth loves working for Sebastian Payne's company and her new boss, Trevor Howard. But Gabriel still can't come to terms with it until Elizabeth makes the ultimate gesture to quit her job to make him believe he isn't sleeping with Sebastian.

Brian Sullivan from her old company of Smith Cannon is back and he's stoking the flames of doubt for Elizabeth, showing her pictures of Gabriel with another woman, telling her she will never measure up to what he needs in a Countess. But his creepy behavior works against him, keeping Elizabeth from completely believing him. Going so far as to tell Gabriel that he's obsessed with her.

"The bool's of the rose by now, isn't it? I grew up in England so I know a thing or two about how the upper crust thinks. With your American mutt pedigree, you haven't a prayer love. In the eyes of the peerage, you're not good enough to assume the role of a countess. You'll never measure up. By now, he probably regrets marrying you."

~ Brian Sullivan

I really loved the end to this series. I loved getting another fix of Gabriel and Elizabeth, and the Winterleagh family. I would have loved a little more of Royce, and to get to know Edward a bit more. But what I got was good. I swear I laughed so hard I almost gave myself a headache when Brianna got mad at Gabriel over telling Elizabeth she couldn't work.

The only reason I didn't give it a full five stars is because I feel there could have been a bit more background on Brian Sullivan or something that would have explained his obsession with Elizabeth. He made veiled comments about Elizabeth that made her think he knew about her upbringing and her time as a party girl, but we never got to know if he researched her, if he knew her from before she worked at Smith Cannon, why he was so obsessed. Also, that little nugget Magda gave us about who Bri's real mother could potentially be. Maybe for the next book?

I highly recommend this series. Its sexy, funny, heartbreaking and mysterious all at the same time. I can't wait to read more about the family when we get to know what happens with Brianna and Jake in Storm Conquered .

YOGA ASSIST - Not what I thought

Yoga Assists - Sharon Gannon, David Life

ARC provided by publisher through NetGalley for an honest review.

Although extremely informative, not exactly what I thought it was. I'm looking for a book with more routines. This was more of proper stances using the assist of another.

Very good if you have a practice you already involved with, but are looking to have a partner adjust you a bit to make sure you are in proper stances.

BREATHE WITH ME (With Me In Seattle, #7) by Kristen Proby

Breathe With Me (With Me In Seattle Book 7) - Kristen Proby

4 TOOTSIE ROLL STARS

It was sweet. Not as good and dramatic as the first couple of books in the series. But I did break down and cry when something that happens to Mark causes Meredith remembered how her father and sister were killed. That was heartbreaking to read. I had a friend tell me she cried, which I normally don't and when the book got to one part, I thought that was what she'd been talking about only to have what really caused it to hit just a few pages later.

I loved the rest of the Montgomery and Logan clans welcoming her and Jax with open arms and bringing them into the fold.

I'm sure the next book will be about Dominic and I can't wait.

Good work again Ms. Proby!

PERFECT RYHTYM: His to Claim #6 by Opal

His to Claim #6 - Opal Carew

ARC provided through NetGalley by publisher for an honest review.

3.5 DOMINANT STARS

After the incident, Melanie and Storm are together again. She is disturbed by her perceived distance and decides to let him know that he is off the hook and she will leave. He tells her that's not his problem and they finally clear the air. After a talk with his brother, Storm aka Rafe, realizes he's nothing like his abusive father and decides to embrace his Dominant side.

The finale was a little anti-climactic for me, but I still liked it a lot. I would definitely read this author again. I would like to read a full novel with more emersion into the story than a set of novellas turned into a book, to see what she could do with more depth into their world.

BREAKING STORM: His to Claim #5 by Opal Carew

His to Claim #5 - Opal Carew

4.5 BECK AND CALL STARS

DANG!!!... is all I can say. What a fantasy fulfilled and where can I find those guys :D?

When Storm aka Rafe shows up on the tour to find Melanie in a room with a bunch of guys and Travis about to take off his pants, he's pissed off. But Melanie explains that what he saw wasn't really what he thought. Storm believes her until and drunken Diego, spills the beans. This prompts Storm to realize that he needs to feed Melanie's desire to set herself free and explore he wild side.

Storm sets up an unbelievable night for her, which prompts him to start thinking about what he really wants from a relationship with her. Melanie perceives this as him pulling away and deciding he doesn't want a relationship with her. But something happens to bring everything to a halt.

Yum!

I still don't understand how a guy could want to marry a girl who had been intimate with his brother, as Jessica is marrying Dane. That totally freaks me out. LOL

It was well written, not too much but just enough. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it's a novella and I wanted more story before it ended.

4 UH OH STARS

Dang, three rock stars wanting you and two willing do be there for you at once. Melanie has willpower of steel. But Storm aka Rafe took a while to figure out what he wanted and what was important to him. I just wish he hadn't found out what happened by way of a drunken Diego.

I can't imagine what's going to happen next.

But soon Rafe says he just wants a casual thing. Is that what he really wants? That's now how he acts when Travis, lead singer of hie band Savage Kiss and Jessica's brother, also shows interest in Melanie.

Let's see what happens next.

NO STINGS: His To Claim #1 by Opal Carew

His to Claim #1 - Opal Carew

ARC provided through NetGalley by publisher for an honest review.

4 ANTICIPATION STARS

I think this is sweet. I can feel the anticipation of these two characters who like each other, but because of their previous circumstances find it hard to express it. Especially foe Melanie as she alway assumed Rafe wasn't interested. And for Rafe, it wasn't that he wasn't interested, it's just that she worked for him. Now she doesn't.

Melanie had fallen in love with her boss Rafe and decided to leave her job when he fell in love with her friend, Jessica. Now that Jessica is marrying Rafe's brother, Dane, Melanie and Rafe are thrown together by circumstance.... or is it?

They run into each other at a tattoo shop, where Rafe stays with her to calm her anxiety. Takes her to dinner and realizes he doesn't have to stay away from her because she's not longer is assistant.

The Collaring Ceremony: His POV (Brie) - Red Phoenix

HOG-TIED AND BRANDED by Anita Philmar

Hog-Tied and Branded - Anita Philmar

ARC provided by publisher through NetGalley for an honest review.

2.5 - 3 STARS

It wasn't terrible, and the sex was written well. My biggest problem with novellas like this is when someone doesn't take the time to edit before releasing. Now it wasn't glaringly bad, but there were times when the author meant she instead of he, or his instead of hers. Little things like that.

But I liked the concept of the story and though that Suzi and Clint were sweet. I felt badly that they both had things that kept them from being completely honest with each other. I also felt the anxiety of her trying to milk the last little bit out of their time together before telling him her truth that she believed would cause him to leave her.

But ultimately they worked it out and that's what was really sweet. I would consider reading something from the author again, but she has to get someone to re-read her work so that those things that will throw you off from the story don't continue to happen.

BRIE'S FIRST DAY OF SUBMISSIVE TRAINING (Brie, #1) by Red Phoenix

Brie's First Day of Submissive Training - Red Phoenix

4.5 SUBMISSION TRAINING STARS

That was so HOT... I had low expectations, because I'd read a couple of novella's and they sucked. This one exceeded my expectations or they were so low, this it hit the spot of reading something better. But with the other rating I've read, I believe I'm not the only one.

I like the idea that Brianna aka Brie, is a struggling filmmaker. After graduating from film school she takes a job that pays the bills and feels stuck, like so many of us struggling in the film business. I got that angst. When a good looking man leaves his card for her, she's intrigued by the idea of the Submission Training School. After almost talking herself out of it many times, she ends up with scholarship. Surprised that the place is housed on a college campus, Brie's first day of training makes her rethink all her preconceived notions of who she is and what she wants.

I can't wait to read more...

WHITE COLLARED, Part 4: PASSION by Shelly Bell

White Collared Part Four: Revenge - Shelly Bell

4 MASTERED STARS

I love it when I'm right. Although there was a misdirection thrown in there, I had a feeling I knew who the bad guy was. Although he wasn't really bad. I liked what the judge said about people not being born bad, but that some choice leads them down a dark path and then ultimately there's nothing they can do to turn it around. I think this is what happened to both guys. But ultimately Nick had a little bit of a screw loose.

But, I think Kate aka Katerina handled herself really well. I ultimately loved her with Jaxon and felt the chemistry.

I have to say, although I have and issue with the switching from first person to third person and back, I liked the authors storyline and think I could definitely read hear again.

WHITE COLLARED, Part 3: REVENGE by Shelly Bell

White Collared Part 3: Revenge - Shelly Bell

4 STARS

Although I still think I know who did it, this is a twist I didn't expect. Why do people not tell the truth? I don't understand why people tell little white lies that always come out and will get them in trouble. Jaxon should have opened up to her before he committed to her. He should have made sure everything was out in the open. He demanded honesty and openness from her, but wasn't willing to give it himself.

But, I get whats going on now. And my hunch, I still think is right. Joseph tried to tell her, but she was too focused on what she believed to be the truth, then to listen to him.

I'm still having an issue with the switch to from first to third person and back. But I'm liking the mystery mixed with the great BDSM moments.

WHITE COLLARED, Part 2: GREED by Shelly Bell

White Collared Part 2: Greed - Shelly Bell

3.5 FREAKING CRAZY STARS

This one was much better. Lot's of twists and turns. Although, I think I have an idea who the real culprit is, I'm not exactly sure. I can't quite figure out what's happening and usually can see the plot twist coming from a mile away. But not this time.

Although Hannah was a total slut and terrible friend, she didn't deserve what happened to her. And why did Jaxon lie about Stephanie, or was it another case of someone doing something in Jaxon's name. This is getting good... On to the next installment.

WHITE COLLARED, Part 1: MERCY by Shelly Bell

White Collared Part One: Mercy - Shelly Bell

2.5 - 3 KILLER STARS

It took me a moment to get into the authors way of writing. At first if fluxed between first person and third person narrative, and back. And it was hard to figure out who was narrating the story. But finally it started to come from Kate aka Katerina. I like the mystery. I was shocked by the skanky ex-best friend. But I am also thrown by Kate's inability to figure herself out. I think if I knew more about her background and what the author is alluding to what happened to her as a teen, I would get how she could be drawn to and basically kiss two different men, who are friends, one of them suspected of murder.

I'm definitely looking forward for finding out what happens in the next installment.
